Tell us what has changed
Describe smoke, odors, water, ignition problems, falling debris, or any change since the last use. State whether you are planning seasonal care, a purchase, a repair, or a new appliance.
Identify the system where possible
Share whether it burns wood, gas, or pellets. A model label or existing manual can help identify a factory-built fireplace, insert, or stove. If you cannot find one, say that you are unsure.
Keep records available
Previous reports and repair records provide context. For a real-estate request, provide the inspection deadline. For an attached or managed building, check access and authorization with the responsible party.
Let the fireplace cool
Do not light a fire before the appointment. Keep the path to the fireplace clear and ask about any preparation instructions when the visit is confirmed. Rooftop access and other arrangements should be discussed in advance.
