When to get in touch.
- Pilot or ignition problems
- Soot on glass or an unusual change in flame appearance
- An appliance due for manufacturer-recommended service
A considered starting point.
Understand the existing system
Identify the appliance using the rating plate or model information.
Define the right scope
Review ignition, controls, burner condition, and accessible venting as appropriate to the model.
Plan the details
Use compatible parts and manufacturer instructions when defining maintenance or repair.
Before you decide.
A gas log set, direct-vent fireplace, and gas insert are not interchangeable systems. Include a photo of the model label when available. If you smell gas or a carbon monoxide alarm sounds, leave the building and call emergency services or your gas utility from a safe location.
Your questions, answered.
Why does my gas fireplace keep going out?
Possible causes range from controls and sensors to fuel or venting conditions. A model-specific assessment is needed. Repeatedly resetting a problem appliance is not a substitute for diagnosis.
Can I replace the gas logs with a different set?
Use only a log configuration and parts approved for the appliance. Placement matters to operation. Do not substitute decorative logs or change their arrangement without the manufacturer’s instructions.
Homeowner guidance: Chimney Safety Institute of America. Appliance installation and operation must follow the specific manufacturer’s instructions. Service scope and availability are confirmed before scheduling.
