About the housing data.

Local pages include an aggregate summary of public county records. It helps describe the housing context without publishing individual homeowner information.

Sources

St. Louis County Parcels_Current, snapshot updated June 29, 2026, provides municipality, land-use classification, and recorded year built. CERT21 certified dwelling records provide historical fireplace and chimney-stack fields from 2021. Data was retrieved September 24, 2026.

What we calculate

We group single-family parcel records by the county municipality field. Median construction year and the share built before 1960 exclude missing and implausible years. Historical fireplace or stack indicators count a record once if at least one of the opening, stack, or prefabricated-fireplace fields is positive.

What the figures do not mean

These records do not establish current equipment, occupancy, ownership, chimney safety, service demand, search volume, or the need for work. A missing indicator does not prove a home has no fireplace. Renovations, demolitions, and data errors can affect the picture. The figures are not a substitute for inspecting a property.

Boundaries

The directory uses county municipal boundaries. St. Louis City is separate. Unincorporated communities do not receive municipality-specific parcel statistics when the records only identify unincorporated county. Pacific and Fenton figures describe records within the county source, not every property with those postal names.
